Growing Season

Last year Ryan, Layla and I attempted our own garden for the first time.  We bought plants from the store and transplanted them into the garden in very late May.  We got a late start and we were only mildly successfully.  We had lots of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers but everything else was eaten by rabbits or was very odd looking (our beans were seriously skinny and two feet long).  Even with the many unsuccessful plants, we loved having the veggies that we were able to grow and Layla really loved the gardening process. 

So we are giving it another go this year.  But this year, to get the full gardening effect (and to save money on those pricey plants!), we are attempting to start with the seeds inside.  We may be making a run to the store in mid-May for plants :)

We are thinking we might get some hybrid fruits/veggies this year with Miss Layla playing an active role in the planting!  Anyone for a carrot-loupe??

  Miss Layla also wanted to know what her brother is going to do while we are working in the garden this year.  She answered herself with, "Me know!  He will sit in his carseat and watch us!" 
 I just hope we have something to plant in the garden before he arrives!!!
