30 Months....Okay, 2 1/2 years old!

Layla is 2 1/2 already, I can't believe it. Here are some tidbits, in no particular order, on Layla at her halfway to three milestone:

Layla is still a healthy little girl. She likes to eat although her appetite has slowed down a bit. She also seems to be tall for her age which the doctor said won't last forever with Ryan and I not being tall people. Her hair is growing like crazy and she has the baby curls that make me never want to cut her hair.

She loves her dolls and dollhouse. As you know, Layla sometimes "nurses" her babies and sometimes just sticks them under her shirt pretending she has a baby in her belly like her mama. She is also very into playing store right now and enjoys "shopping" in our food cabinets.

Layla is talking up a storm these days. We are so proud of the progress Layla has made in this area. She is saying and trying just about everything except for elephant and drink. She still makes the spraying sound for elephant and says "gook" for drink. We have worked so hard on her speech, but it is still sad hearing those little baby words go away.

Speaking of speech, Layla is still in speech therapy. She was re-evaluated in November and she no longer had a large enough deficit (a great thing!) to qualify but due to her seizures/medication she was able to stay on for services. Layla's therapist comes to our house once a week and Miss Beth is wonderful. She does a lot of therapy through art projects which is perfect for Layla.

The future big sister seems excited about the new baby. Layla is constantly telling me I am getting "bigger and bigger." :) Her favorite question to ask is when the baby sister is going to come out. Nope, we don't know the sex yet but according to Layla it is definitely a girl. Miss Layla could have a shock in January when we have our ultrasound, we shall see!! We have been looking through old photo albums a lot looking at pregnant pictures of me and tiny baby pictures of Layla. I thought this was helping Layla understand the process better but then just yesterday she told me I was having two babies pointing to my belly and then to the area directly north of my belly!

Layla knows and loves her alphabet. We didn't push it with her at all but she just became obsessed with letters. She knows all of the uppercase letters and some of her lowercase. Layla is also starting to ask us what the individual letters say. She likes singing the "ABC's" but gets stuck on the Q over and over again.

As you can see from the pictures, Layla enjoyed playing in the snow last weekend and wanted all of her summer toys dragged back out to play with snow style. She also had her first hot chocolate and is hooked on the marshmallows.
