Layla is SIX

School ended on Thursday.  And Layla turned six on Friday.  

It was such a big, crazy week.  From a kindergartner and five to a first grader and six.   

Layla is one fun six year old!  Her imagination is always spinning new ideas and I just love seeing her confidence and abilities grow!

  Layla loves to be outside.  She likes to ride her bike, go to the park, search for flowers and jump in puddles. 

 

Layla is an animal lover.  She loves cats, dogs, horses...you name it, she loves it.  She has this calm confidence with animals that I admire.  She, however, cannot stand bugs.  Yelling, running, swatting, ceiling scanning.  Bugs are her current big worry.  Unless they are ladybugs painted on her toenails!

Do you  see Layla's newest pet from Super Aunt Ann and family?  A beta fish!  Layla has been asking (and asking) for a fish.  "Finn" is on the wall in her room and the big six year old is in charge of feeding her fish everyday.  Blue loves him too! Thanks Ann!

Layla is healthy.  Despite a bumpy 4th quarter of school with many small sicknesses, Layla's health is really doing well.  She is currently in the longest stretch of her little life being seizure and medication free.  We are so thankful for this. 

  

Layla loved school.   And the entire school year was a huge one for Layla.  I just knew it would be.  It was Layla's first long flight from the nest.  Each weekday, she was off to school.  She was spending as much time away from me as she was with me.  It was intimidating to think about as the school year began.  But as I was fretting, Layla was growing and learning and honestly really enjoying herself....without me!  Ha!  We loved both teachers in her classroom and we were so thankful for the play and breaks the teacher incorporated into the classroom routine.  And Layla learned a ton.  She is even reading a bit now which is fun.  As great as school was, I am so excited to have her home for the summer!!
